Tommynow: Drive
Client: Tommy Hilfiger
Production company: The Light Surgeons
This immersive experience was commissioned by Tommy Hilfiger for the guests entering their TOMMYNOW: DRIVE runway fashion show at the Milan Fashion Week in 2018. The brief for this project was to create an immersive audio-visual experience that placed it’s audience into the atmosphere and heart of an F1 race as it enter the main space through a tunnel walkway.
The audio played out through a Bose sound system with 4 pairs of speakers spaced along the top of the tunnel, reinforced with 4 subs on the floor. I combined F1 engine sound recordings by Synergy with a beat driven music composition. This was all then spatialised across the bespoke speaker installation using Reaper; the engine sounds followed the car with plenty of doppler effects and the stems of the music constantly moved along the tunnel drawing people along the experience and into the main space.
As well as the documentation video above, I have created the 360 version below which allows you to pan around the installation with your mouse and hear how the sound was spatialised. Please where headphones for the full effect.
